Fomer Marbella Mayor Muñoz sentenced to pay fine |Crime Scene Spain: "former mayor of Marbella, Julian Muñoz, has been sentenced to pay a fine of €2,160 for failing to pay maintenance to his ex-wife, Maite Zaldivar.
A trial was due to take place, but both parties reached an agreement before it came to court. The public prosecutor was seeking a year in prison for family abandonment, as Muñoz had not paid the €1,800 stipulated in the divorce settlement since the marriage was terminated in March 2004.
Muñoz requested that he be allowed to pay the fine in instalments, but his request was denied. Once outside the courthouse, he refused to answer questions put to him by the press and instead joked about football."
