Sixth 'balconing' fatality of the year: "practice known in Spain as ‘balconing’ has taken its sixth fatality this summer with the death of a 26 year old Italian who jumped from the 7th floor balcony of a hotel in Playa den Bossa on Ibiza, trying to reach the swimming pool. The tragedy happened at about 0730 on Sunday morning.
It comes just a week after 26 year old Briton, Kevin Anthony, fell in Puerto Adriano on Mallorca, and follows other British victims in Mallorca on July 20, and Ibiza on July 5.
Hoteliers on the Baleares are debating what they can do to stop young guests jumping from balcony to balcony or down to the pool, including the possibility of introducing fines.
Some establishments, such as the Hotel Marina Barracuda, have printed information sheets advising of the dangers and noting that jumping from balconies is prohibited"
